Change….a word that can conjure up so many emotions simply by reading it. Depending on your perspective, it can be a word that causes excitement and expectation…or it can be a word that strikes fear in your heart or even stir up anger on the inside.
Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the days of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth, shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
God spoke through the Prophet Isaiah and gave a prophetic utterance with an important caution. He promised that he would do a brand new thing in and through His people. Something that humanity had not heard, read, felt or tasted! Because He loves us and so desires for His people to experience it, He lovingly cautions us to not dwell on the former things or days of old. There is a danger that lies in dwelling on the past. No matter how great and powerful past moves of God have been, dwelling on former eras can cause us to miss what God is saying…NOW!!! He asks us the question, “Shall you not know it?”
It has been well said, “Insanity is to do the same things over and over, yet expecting a different result.” In order to have something we’ve never had before, God is asking us to do something we’ve never done before! Change…it is what is required in order to move forward into unknown realms of God’s presence. It is a good thing to change. However, moving forward into change will require one important thing….you must let go of the old thing in order to receive the new thing! There is a reason it is called sacrifice! It will not always be a pleasurable experience to release significant and sentimental things over to the Lord. Trust me when I tell you that the joy ahead of you will far outweigh the pain of release!
Ask yourself this question…”What is more important to me? What I already possess, or what God desires to give?” It is my prayer that you will begin to trust God to the dimension where you will relinquish all to your King, and trust Him with complete abandon!
Great things are in store! Trust and believe that the best is yet to come!
Change is coming…don’t be afraid…expect the unexpected!
